In 1916 Arthur Cockcroft, stationary engineer, lived here at Salem Mill Yard. The plaques were created as a part of the 'Who lived in my house in 1916' project organised by the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival.
The dredging has left the flow here much improved. The 'Island' in the middle of the river is currently just a pile of rocks.
